An introduction to gilding.

Spend the day with gilder Sue Lee of Eskdale Restoration to learn about both oil & water gilding

Use traditional gilding techniques and real gold leaf to gild a candlestick and star decoration

6 Week courses starting from 3rd November.

Courses run on Tuesdays & Thursdays.

Expert guidance from Master Upholsterer Hannah Weston Smith. There will be a maximum of 8 students per class to ensure you get the guidance you need to complete your project.

Thursday 19th November

6.30-8.30pm

Spend a fun evening learning how to sculpt wool using a felting needle into a long cone shapes. Add colour to create a Santa or gnome design and then lots of textures to add character to your decoration

Saturday 7th & Sunday 8th November

Spend 2 days with Irenee Chappell in the school workshop making a Roman blind or Curtain for your home using the same methods as a professional soft furnisher.

Start the festive season by joining Martha & Hannah to create a beautiful wreath from locally sourced foliage and seasonal sprays!

Saturday 12th December
1pm - 4pm

Play with colourful Merino Wool and textures to create a pair of fingerless gloves that will fit you perfectly. Learn how to wet felt around a resist. Cut a thumb hole or leave them as wrist warmers, you choose once they have felted. 

We use our hands and a lot of warm soapy water for this class, please bring a pair of washing up gloves and a small towel.

Create a shaped and piped headboard using sustainable upholstery materials.

This class is ideal for anyone who wants to make their own headboard for their home.

This class allows you to make a full size headboard to suit your home rather than a sample. You can choose to attach it to a wall or your bedframe.
