About The Course
An introduction to the traditional craft of gilding using real gold leaf.
Learn about the materials, tools and techniques of this ancient craft.
You will apply your new skills to produce your very own oil gilt candlestick and a water gilt star which you can take home.
Throughout the day you will be shown and expertly guided by Sue Lee of Eskdale Restoration.

Oil gilding - Apply oil size to candlestick.
Demonstration of materials and tools.
Water gilding - Apply real gold leaf to star.

Under guidance students will practice handling the leaf and using the necessary tools and
equipment.
Oil gild the candlestick using the tip and cushion method.
Burnish your water gilt star to a brilliant shine.
All tools and materials are provided to complete both projects.
*A maximum of 8 real gold leaves per person is included. Additional leaves may be purchased on the day at £2 per leaf.
